Acknowledging that our efforts will be clarified and amplified if we can share the story of what we are setting out to accomplish as a community, we have arranged to share the whole story. We have secured access a family owned, multi generational mine in northern Alaska, to document the true process of extraction. From landing on a remote private runway in a tiny bush plane, to a lunch break with the mining crew, we will follow the gold all the way to the jewelers hands.
Gold use extends far beyond the reach of the jewelry industry, and it will continue to be mined heavily across the world. If gold is going to continue to be extracted we need to help make sure that the extraction process takes the laborers and the environment into consideration first. We are focusing on US Gold because State, Federal & EPA policies in the US are more stringent on gold extraction methods, procedures and reporting than the majority of internationally held mining policies.
Addressing a larger piece to the US gold puzzle, ethical extraction means we are taking into account broader considerations beyond policy. It means we are making sure we are protecting human rights, supporting fair wages, improving on communities and their livelihood, as well as addressing key environmental considerations. In our efforts we will strive to uphold the No Dirty Gold pledge.
