Call For Entries:
We are accepting submissions for work to be displayed at the event, in the book (see below), and for the cover art contest.
We will carefully select professionals who are held in the highest regard in their respective fields. These individuals are driven by the same motto that has prompted The SATELite Festival. Take your adventures the farthest reaches while having as little impact as possible. Some are partaking in this festival as a first step towards habitat reparations, while others have actively been involved in like concerns for years.
Professional Athletes Professional Adventurers Cradle-to-Cradle Pioneers & Those that Document the Journeys
As an ambassador we ask you to participate in one of several of the following ways: SATELite relationships building and partner acquisition, event hosting, board participation, and/or silent-auction donation (your company). This event is as much a tribute to the ambassadors as it is a tribute to habitat, which supports our adventures.
SATELite is a forum for athletes, adventurers & artists to showcase and support the habitat, which makes it all possible. Full circle – SATELite is proud to offer grants in support of your adventures. Without you the book and the festival would not be possible. Proposed projects are required to have an environmental preservation and support angle so that we may continue to support the habitat that supports your adventures.
(If you have a great adventure without an environmentally conscious angle – we may be able to help. If you are a conservationist and want to be set up with an athlete or an artist (cine/photog/writer) with a great idea – the same concept applies. Send us your idea before filling out a grant application: info@satelitefestival.com We can start a dialogue from there, and hopefully connect you with interested parties.) Upon completion projects will be showcased at the festival and in the book. Each grant recipient will be asked to acknowledge the grant that made their adventure possible in the documentation - media - story - and the like. They will also be profiled on the website for the year with periodic updates on their adventure. Recipients will also serve as Ambassadors at following events. Title grant donors may serve on the board in the selection process of recipients, and thus may request additional support from the recipients. As an applicant please be advised that there may be additional documentation or appearances requested depending on your specific grant, the nature of your project, and the amount you receive.
Grants range from $500 to $15000 – however product requests may alter and vary the relative monetary amount. Following in the application process you will be asked to outline the entire project budget – knowing this information allows us to be creative in our support, as we may have access to something that allows us to accommodate in other ways.
This year 2010 – we are accepting submissions on a rolling basis for projects that can be showcased by the 11th of September 2010. If your project is complete but you still require assistance to bring the documentation full circle you may still apply.
As a continued way to support our cause and our adventures we are compiling an annual book of work. Including but not limited to - stories & images from adventurers and conservationists biography of the cause photo essays & film stills
The compilation will be from the year’s events ambassadors, and participants (see call for entries), as well as our very own Choose Your Own Adventure Grant recipients. There may be room in the book for past-unpublished work – even if it is not showcased in the event. Please feel free to submit this as well – make sure that it is relevant. We look forward to seeing & reading your stories.
